It is not required that you change your name to the name of an anime character from Gundam Seed/Destiny/ FMA/ etc
All it does is give you a place holder in the RP's that you may or may not take part in.
If an FMA Role Play was started by 'Sarah' then the user 'Edward' or 'Edward Elric' would get a reserved spot in the RP as Edward elric, unless Edward chose not to participate in the RP, then it becomes an open name again. ^^
